Custom Waterfront renovation in
Amherst, VA

Here's the "before" photo taken September 2006

and what it looks like as of Aug 2007...

The renovation includes the addition of all these new features: new garage, breezeway and portico, driveway, landscaping, screen porch, rock foundation watertable, new deck, new roof, and many interior upgrades including gourmet kitchen, new master suite with pond view, new downstairs bedroom with pond view, rec room, laundry room, wired for Internet and cable TV,outdoor shower, hot tub area, and much more.

One of our ideas here was to recycle and reuse as much as we could. The origianl siding is cedar, but it had become dark and unattractive over the years. We knew the cedar was a very good wood and wanted to save it. So we will use a wood brightener and after adding new (fatter) battens, it really "sings". Finally we'll paint the siding a subtle bark color. The house hasn't been painted in the above photo, so the new battens make it look striped. In addition to the bark color for the siding, we are reflecting the local natural colors by using brick trim colors. The roof is medium bronze heavy guage metal. Piers and water table will be stone.
